THE INfluence Board Program Details

Executives

THE INfluence Board supports its influential members in three important ways:
     1. Acting as a Philanthropic Giving Platform
     2. Providing a “Value-Creating”, Vendor Deflection Strategy
     3. Building and Managing a Vendor Database with details on all the vendors who contact you

Philanthropic Giving Platform

You can choose any qualified, registered charitable organization (501.c.3)

Vendors pay the winning bid amounts to THE INfluence Board upon winning bid acceptance by the executive after the bidding process. THE INfluence Board pays out the winning bids to the charitable organization after the vendor/executive meeting has been held, acknowledged and accepted by both parties.

Vendor bid amounts typically reflect the executive’s span of control, budgetary control, and other measures of influence within their organization or the community. Changes in your role, employment or other factors influencing the perceived value of the meeting prior to the meeting taking place, or occurring without the vendors knowledge, may cause the vendors to request of THE INfluence Board an adjustment in the bid amount or request a cancellation or refund of the bid amount. If the meeting is never scheduled or held after six months from date of winning bid approval, or cancelled by the executive and not rescheduled over a six month period, or the meeting is cut short by the executive, the vendor may request an adjustment or refund of the bid amount. Any refunds or adjustments must be approved by THE INfluence Board.

Vendor Deflection

Vendor requests for an executive’s time almost always exceed their ability to respond. Rather than ignoring them or just telling them “no”, you can now tell them that while the executive is not available at this time, they can register for notifications on future availability which is auctioned for charity.
All the vendors leave feeling engaged rather than dismissed – and the executive builds an ever expanding network of people who are willing to support their philanthropic giving efforts.

Vendor Database

By deflecting undesired vendor contacts to THE INfluence Board, the vendors will provide key information about who they are, what company they are with, how to reach them, what products and services they provide, and the reasons for their meeting request. You will have a database available to you with all this information in a searchable format from your Executive Dashboard on THE INfluence Board.
Whether you auction your time regularly or not, this information can be leveraged to identify vendors who can address your needs over time.

Other Considerations

      Choosing a Winner

Upon completion of an auction for your time, THE INfluence Board provides you with information on the top five bidders. While the default is to accept the highest  bidder, we provide the capability to choose any, or all, of the top five bidders as the winners of the auction. This allows you to:
   1. Disqualify a bidder if there is a known conflict of interest
   2. Choose multiple winners and accept the funds from all of them and meetings with all of them to increase your philanthropic giving
   3. Choose the winner of greatest interest to you based on their company or offerings

Scheduling Meetings with the Winning Bidders

Upon being selected as an auction winner, the vendor will receive the information in your profile regarding who to contact to arrange their meeting date, time and location. It is your responsibility to work with the vendor to arrange the meeting in a timely fashion. Remember, auction funds are only disbursed to your charity upon completion of the meeting with your winning vendor(s). There is a notification button on your executive dashboard to notify us of a completed meeting so that we can disburse the funds.

Vendors

THE INfluence Board assists the vendor community in several important ways:

         Information Capture for the Executive

Typically, as part of the deflection by the gatekeeper, your contact information, company information, products and services, and reason for wanting a meeting will not be captured or retained. However, by registering for THE INfluence Board and adding the executives you are targeting to your “Watch List”, your profile will capture all your critical information and provide this to the executives in a searchable database for access as needs demand.

          Visibility

Every time you pre-bid for a meeting with an executive, or bid on an active auction, the bidding draws the executive’s attention to your profile so that they are reminded of you, your company and the reason you wanted a meeting.

          Executive Access

The executive has visibility to the TOP 5 BIDDERS at the end of the auction, and all their profile details. The executive also has the ability to choose any, or all, of the TOP 5 BIDDERS as the “Winners” of the auction.

When you “Win” an Auction

Upon completion of an auction, the executive is presented with the TOP 5 BIDDERS to approve the winner(s). The default is to approve the top bidder, but they are also encouraged to choose multiple winners from the TOP 5 BIDDERS. You may “win” an auction, and a meeting with the executive even though you are not the top bidder. By being one of the TOP 5 BIDDERS, your obligation to pay your last bid amount remains in force in the case that the executive selects you as a winner.

The winning bid and auction fee are due upon notification of selection as a winner.  The auction fee is not refundable, but the winning bid amount will be retained by THE INfluence Board until the meeting with the executive has been completed. Upon notification by the executive and/or the vendor that the meeting has been satisfactorily completed, we will issue the full amount of the winning bid to the charity selected by the executive, on behalf of the winning vendor. We will also provide the vendor with information on the charity and the donation for accounting purposes.

Upon payment of the winning invoice, you will receive information on who to contact to schedule the meeting with the executive, and it is your responsibility to respond to the executive and coordinate calendars to arrange the time, date and location of the meeting.

What if there is a problem with the meeting?

If there are changes in the executive’s role, employment or other factors influencing the perceived value of the meeting prior to the meeting taking place, or occurring without the vendors knowledge, you may request of THE INfluence Board an adjustment in the bid amount or request a cancellation or refund of the bid amount.
If the meeting is never scheduled or held after six months from date of winning bid approval, or cancelled by the executive and not rescheduled over a six month period, or the meeting is cut short by the executive, you may request an adjustment or refund of the bid amount.

Any refunds or adjustments must be approved by THE INfluence Board. To request an adjustment or refund, go to your Vendor Dashboard under “Pending Meetings” and for the auction in question select the “Update Status” button and set to “Dispute Meeting”. You will be contacted by a representative of THE INfluence Board.

Strategies for maximizing value from THE INfluence Board platform:

    1. Find and follow all the executives in the system that you are trying to meet by adding them to your “Watch List”.
    2. If you don’t find an executive you are searching for in the system, add them to the system so that THE INfluence Board can encourage them to activate their profile and make time available for you and other vendors.
    3. Pre-Bid on the executives you want to meet. This will auto-market to the executives encouraging them to donate the funds to their charity and take the meeting.
    4. Make sure you are in the TOP 5 BIDDERS. The default for the executives is to accept the top bidder, but they see, and have the ability to choose, any or all of the TOP 5 BIDDERS.

Charities

THE INfluence Board is a powerful new resource for charitable organizations, providing:

A New Funding Source

Vendor Marketing Dollars are converted to charitable donations after vendor meetings have been secured and completed. Executives can augment their philanthropic giving by donating “time”. The more influential the executive, the greater the donation amounts.

More Consistent “Giving Intervals”

Executives can be set up to automatically donate one hour per month to be auctioned to vendors. This encourages them to provide consistent support across the entire year rather than just participating in an annual campaign.

Marketing Support

THE INfluence Board provides mechanisms for both the vendors and charities to regularly “prompt” the executives on the platform to participate and donate time for auction.

Donations

The vendor community will ultimately be the donors, however, the donations will be made as a result of executives participating in the auction – so don’t forget to thank your Executive Participants and encourage them to continue their support!
